Despite me being a fan of the 2 short movies and especially the anime series for Little Witch Academia, this game was not as good as I was hoping it would be.While this game does a great job representing the world of the anime franchise with fun dialouge, a great opening theme tune, the japanese voice cast reprising their roles for this game (there's no english voice option in this game so sorry few people who prefer the english cast), nice cell shaded graphics and on top of that some original animation from Studio TRIGGER for certain cutscenes, the gameplay is where the game falls apart.When you're not running up, down and all around Luna Nova (the game's hub world) just to complete simple fetch quests, you're in clunky beat em up sections with only a few combat moves at your disposal, poor dungeon design and bosses that range from really easy to absolutely tidieous.That's not even the worst part of it due to all the repetition you'll be going through during the course of your adventure, either through replaying dungeons as different characters to progress through the story, having to keep going back and forth to different parts of Luna Nova while keeping track of the time or just straight up being forced to play all 7 stages again because of a late plot point I won't spoil for those curious.I wanted to like this game but unless if you're a huge fan of Little Witch Academia, I don't recommend buying this game and even if you are a huge fan of the franchise I suggest waiting for a price drop because it's not worth spending £35 for a game where only the writing and presentation are good while the gameplay is rather bad.I can see that A+ Games tried while making this game but this game is nothing more than a D-.. Explore the school, character back story, all day night and feel WORTHEDIf you want to Feel the next revolution of saving the anime style gaming exprience then..NO - Don't do it, you not gonna get thatIf you want just want a little more lwa in your life with kinda accaptable game system.Wait for Sale - if you in the middle no where like this one, just wait for sale. Just played this game for roughly 2 hours and here are my thoughts.The game is your typical fetch quest + hack and slash hybrid adventure game. The game does showcase some positives but some glaring negatives as follows:Positives:1) Game looks incredibly faithful to the anime. Lots of character animations/emotions along with solid visuals. 2) EVERYTHING is voice acted. Even all the minor side characters are too. The audio quality is top notch for the characters and in the music department. 3) The story and character interactions are very involving. It feels like one big episode of little witch academia.4) Custom cutscene animations created by Trigger. Huge plus seeing the authentic anime style brought to life in the game.Now unfortunately for the negatives:1) The weakest part of the game...the combat. This is an extremely unpolished, watered down beat em up. The design is very plain and the enemies and your allies have the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI. The controls are a bit unrefined and the combo/attack variety is very limited. You cannot cancel or chain into other buttons. Also, hearing the same voices again and again for the attacks is very annoying. Get tired of hearing the same line so profusely. They should of varied the dialogue more.2) Exploration is very cumbersome with a confusing map system. The onscreen map doesn't orient right with how the overall map of Luna Nova shows in the menu so you can end up getting lost or confused. The menu system is very bloated and unorganized. You run around WAY TOO MUCH. Lot of the game is you running around from one character to the next doing the same type of quest over and over and over. It gets extremely repetitive.3) No English voice overs. Not a huge deal breaker but with the delay in release from the Japanese version (6 months, why?), I was expecting this to be implemented as the dub of the anime is quite good.While I am a huge Little Witch Academia fan, I really cannot recommend this game at the $40 price tag. When the base gameplay (combat and exploration) are very tedious, unvaried and limited with serious polish issues plague the game's overall amazing presentation, you're definitely in for a bumpy ride. Only recommend this for the most die hard Little Witch fans. If this game was $20, I'd be more willing to snag it, but at $40 it's just not worth the experience. I honestly was expecting gameplay on the level of Dragon's Crown but with so many better hack and slash games out there, tread carefully on this game. If you can tolerate these annoyances, there is a lot of story and charm to behold within. Overall Score: 6/10.. A very good looking, but terrible beat-em-up. If you're REALLY into LWA and can look past the terrible gameplay then you'll be able to have some fun with it.. I loved the game (even if i still haven`t finished it yet), apart from my love for the Anime and the Manga, i can say that the game is very good made, and is even understandable if you haven`t watched the anime yet, why this? well the game let you have the posibility of show you some introductions, or Re-Introductions to some characters and the serie itself, and here where this game does it very good, as you know this game is most lika "squel" or a "Addicional" to the serie story, and as many other sequels they show you some introductions to "familiar-characters" of the previous parts but in some cases they force you to watch it (and yes i know in some you can skip them, but is annoying too) or in some others they just not appear (Like in Half Life 2), and the chance to choose if you wanna play the cinematics is something really good if you already know the characters or not.Besides some strange animations, i see that it tries to reflect the Trigger style, and they achieve it in some way.Other detail are some cutscenes that are not from the anime, i know could be a little thing, but is a nice detail to see them.Also, as many other PC ports the controls are not something perfect, but are not as confusing as in other games.I recommend it to everyone who like RPG games, even of you don`t like the serie or the anime in general is a good tittle to enjoy alone or with a friend.978/1000Another weird thing is that the game have Trading Cards, but the steam tag doesn`t show that. xD.
